"I woke up very early and went painting on the roof Garden of my studio in France. The sun was just popping up from the horizon and the fresh morning air gave me energy. I was so grateful for this moment, I was grateful for the blue sky and the green plants. I wanted to express the vivacity of the morning in a painting – so I looked at the long shadows and decided that, for once, they represent that happy feeling of “what good may come”. "
