"Daydreaming Glade" came from some beautiful birch woods in Derbyshire where I live. Sunlight shines through Summer leaves creating dappled shadows and light, while the textures of the birches contrast with the bright tones. This is a lovely time of year in the woods when the colours are fresh and delicate with the scent of flowers on the air.
An original artwork, one of a kind, this painting has been created with high quality acrylic paints on a thin edged canvas. I begin with observation of the place making notes and taking photographs to work from in the studio. From these beginnings I work intuitively, painting some base layers with a brush and then impasto techniques layer on layer applied with a palette knife. Harnessing optical mixing techniques employed by the impressionists and some of the methods of the old masters such as scumbling and glazing. I continue working until the painting reaches a natural conclusion. The result is a contemporary painting, which lies between abstraction and realism. The sides are painted white, a frame is not provided and there is a cord and wire at the back so it is ready to hang.
For secure shipping I package work carefully and always insure and track for the journey sending by special delivery with parcel force from the UK.
