This is the painting I wanted to create that morning after the fire. The sunrise over the Columbia River in the hazy smoke filled skies created layers of land in shades of mauve. My friend and I hurried to the grounds of the Maryhill Art Museum with bandanas covering our breathing holes to paint the scene. With the changing light I was unable to chase the colors especially when the press came to interview me. When they were done with their questions, the colors had all changed. So here are the colors to the best of memory from that morning.
