Salvador Dali remains one my favorite surrealist artist, and I was inspired to paint a honor portrait of him highlighting his playful humor. I based the portrait of Dali on a historic black and white photo of him holding his ocelot, and I borrowed two images—the lobster phone and the stilt-legged elephant—from his artworks. For fun, I threw in a few surrealistic figures—a naked angel, a boy in swimming goggles, a man in a flying machine, and a dog fetching a rose—to add some spice to the composition.
