I love this view so much, I have painted it many times. A lonely stone barn surrounded by sheep grazing the meadows of the Swaledale valley.
The dry stone walls frame the view of a rough path through the meadows to the barn and beyond. I have tried to capture the many beautiful colours in the landscape - from the zingy greens of the new grass to the purple hazy hills.
This painting is based on a photo taken during a recent trip to Muker. We walked along the Swale and I could have painted 100 views just like this with beautiful stone barns perched on the floor of the valley set amongst buttercups and grasses.
The painting is supplied rolled in a tube.
