Original artwork description:

There are times to stand up and draw at an easel and times to grab the board and get on the floor with the model. A different perspective is created. Important to remember though is to cushion your butt! Sitting drawing on a wood floor does help you find the sit bones.

Here James is cuddling an invisible cusion as he stretches out along the floor. A wonderful view from the front gives perspective and fore-shortening challenges in creating the piece. Volume is gradually built up in the tonal values of the three colours used.

White, rust and black conte pastel on a dark brown paper 32 x 45 cm (c. 12 x 16 "). It will either be rolled for delivery (glassine inside to protect the drawing) or wrapped in glassine and sandwiched in cardboard depending on where it is being sent to.

Mounting/Mat Suggestion: An image is included of how the piece could look if float-mounted or put behind mountboard(s) [in the US known as mats] before framing. Particularly spectacular with a double-mount of black and rust/orange.

Materials used:

Conte Pastel
