‘Curtain’ is a mixed media collage/assemblage presented in a glazed, soft wood box frame. The image is 20cm x 20cm, with the framed size at 24cm x 24cm. The box depth is 3.5cm. ‘Curtain’ is part of a series of assemblages in response to rural landscapes.

‘Curtain’ is inspired by observations made from walks in the landscape of the Lake District in the north west of England. Features of the brisk and raw winter landscape are used to capture a sense of place and, similarly to other work, intends to raise awareness to the ways in which we interact with the natural world.

‘Curtain’ combines the subtle texture of tissue paper, canvas fabric and threads, together with a torn photograph of trees in winter. White acrylic paint has been rubbed into the surface and the words ‘as with your shadow’ are embedded into the image. Found twigs and a seed pod have been arranged across the collaged surface.
