Original artwork description:

acrylic colour on thai handmade mulberry paper(kada sa) , deckled edges, 10 x 13.5 in., 25 x 34 cm
More of my cats. They are like mimes to me, with lots of body language. And it may be about time I express them on paper… after all, they are always sitting around, posing for me. I am mainly focusing on small paintings, black & white with colour highlights. The effect can be quite dramatic on this parchment paper.
I use a traditional mulberry paper handmade in Thailand. It’s a thick parchment like paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect. The close up picture gives a better feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting. Then there’s the work in progress. As you can see in the early stages I tend to start a few projects at one time...
I was very lucky the day I did this perspective shot. Sandy, one of the models, came over to check out the painting, and we got this dramatic capture!
