This painting's title means Four. I started by drawing a grid on the canvas in 2" x 2" squares. Thinking about this series name, Ideas In Art, I wanted to allow the viewer to see the process in creating the painting by allowing the grid to show in part of the painting. The painting shows four distinct areas, each with it's own "idea". One is a straight up minimalist three color pictorial element. Another is occupied by my now very well known areas of solid blocks of colors, minus the zips of contrasting. The third is an area of over lapping colors in a linear grid based composition and the fourth area is a quirky geometric and linear image.
Acrylic paint, matte medium, gesso, satin varnish
