Artwork description:

Anybody who has walked the shores of Crummock Water will have stopped awhile at this point. The promontory poking out into Crummock Water - called Low Ling Crag on the OS Map - is a favourite swimming, skimming, and lunching point.

Acclaimed landscape water-colourist W. Heaton-Cooper even slept here with his new wife on the first night of their honeymoon. It really is quite a special spot.

This image is taken from a series called ‘The Crummock Water Round’, an ongoing project to document a 2-day walk from Keswick to Buttermere Youth Hostel and back again.

This screen print - 10 colours in all - is the result of many hours toiling to generate each of the layers so they would happily sit on-top of one another. I'm especially happy with the detail on Whiteless Pike and Low Bank in the background, where the colours overprint to generate a lovely feeling of depth.

Materials used:

Printed on 300gsm Canaletto using water based inks
