A simple ink sketch to capture the amazing clutter and congestion in the lanes of the famous Jatujak weekend market.
The simple black & white rough and ready ink sketch on parchment has a special mood that colour paintings don’t capture, and allows the texture of the paper to stand out.
The paper I use is a traditional handmade mulberry paper from Thailand. It is a thick parchment like paper, strong yet pliable. I have the paper made to this size to get the deckled edges which adds to the textural effect.
The close up picture is to get a feel for the texture and brush strokes of the painting.
