Original artwork description:

Highway 1 in Big Sur, the quintessential California drive, seems to hug the Pacific coast, bringing you to the Bixby Bridge - one of the tallest single-span concrete suspension bridges in the world, and also one of the most photographed, due to its graceful architecture and magnificent setting. I painted a plein air study for this painting, standing on the narrow side of the road, striving to capture the feel of the place on canvas. Back in my studio, I used the on-location study to paint on a larger canvas, trying to preserve the sense of immediacy and splendor of this magnificent scene.

Materials:
Oil on oil primed Claessens Belgian linen canvas on 1/8 MDF archival art panel, finished with melamine backing that prevents warping and deterioration. Painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish. Painting is unframed and requires a frame to hang.
