Original artwork description:

Crescendo No.2 is a 80 x 80cm (approx 32 x 32 inches) oil painting on canvas. A wave at its maximum intensity, the salt water tumbles and boils, amid a raging blizzard of small droplets lit by the sun.

Inspired by walks along the English South coast, Christopher Witchall continues his preoccupation with the movement and colours of the ocean, a movement frozen in time between the ancient past and an endless future.
The artist’s unsentimental approach to his subjects combine two great passions - a love of traditional painting techniques and a fascination with the photographic image. The result of this are paintings that are both painterly and highly realistic.
Crescendo No.2 is painted on a deep edge stretched canvas, so there is no need for framing and can be hung immediately. It is signed on the front bottom right and supplied with a signed Certificate of Authenticity.
