The work captures the very moment God starts to model the human shape, in his own image, out of clay as it is related to us in the Holy Book.
It represents not only the moment of creation of the physical human form, hinted to us with the help of the overall shape, but also the animation of the inert matter as the Divine breathed the breath of life into it, and this is represented here with the help of the gold which has purity and warmth as intrinsic qualities, just as the soul.
The main material that I have chosen for this work, the cherry wood, is meant to accentuate the living nature of man even from the beginning of his creation, and the gold leaf comes to make complete the whole work by bringing the focus and the point of interest on the spiritual side, the soul of the future man.
The shape of the work which becomes quite thin along the lower part of the work's axis is meant to make us think that the lump of clay is, in the near future, going to separate from it's original state and place as it is about to be transposed into the human realm.
The upper part of the work and more precisely the golden opening on top, simply represents the opening of the seventh chakra symbolizing the Divine nature that can be found inside every human and also man's capacity of reaching the higher state of illumination.
