Painted on-site near the artist's home in Minneapolis. A light and charming early spring painting featuring a group of three flowering crabapple trees with distinctive tall and narrow shapes. The blossoms display shades of pale pink, cherry red, and magenta. The background landscape features tree branches filling in with new yellow and yellow-green leaves, rich deep green grass, and small evergreens in the distance. Made with oil over casein paint. Watery and dripping effects in the grass were created with casein paint and finished with an oil glaze. The texture of the blossoms in the trees is enhanced by oil paint thickly applied with palette knife. Ready to hang on stretched canvas with painted sides. The painting has 1.5" deep canvas stretcher bars for a "gallery-wrap" look.
