Original artwork description:

Painted on-site at the Minnesota Landscape Arboretum. Features a little Crabapple tree perched on a hill, in full autumn color, with leaves in shades of bright orange, red, and gold. A lamppost, a sky of brilliant blue, and the branches of surrounding trees can be seen in the background. The background is painted with casein paint, which dries to a matte finish. In contrast, the tree is painted in oil paint, using a palette knife to create the thick texture in the leaves. Framed in a wood frame with a black finish and gold inner edge.
