This painting represents the South on this series, The artist wants to show the similarity between the cottages in different countries and landscapes however both very dramatic. Beautiful contrast of colours with heather in purple, lilac, pink and rose colours and the absence of the sky leaving the background in dark grey near black, lights up the landscape, a technique used in old art schools for portraits and the classic still life paintings.
