"Cottage Garden"

We visit many National Trust gardens, all through the year, and I am always bowled over by the borders and beds filled with an endless array of different flowers, plants and trees. Some of my favourites are when the garden is not clipped neatly into place, rather left a little to its own devices and sometimes even a little messy. It just feels like you are part of something wonderful when you wander round such places.

So - here is my response to all of that. Letting the plants in the painting find their way around one another was very similar to buying yet another plant and squeezing it into the garden to see how it will fare!
