Corrie, Isle of Arran

Corrie is a small settlement on the east coast of the Isle of Arran, in the Firth of Clyde, Scotland. The shore here is fascinating - soft red rock (sandstone, I think) has been sculpted into fascinating and slightly surreal form by the weather, waves, glaciation and most interestingly - by harder, bluish-grey rocks which sit on the surface.

Original oil on canvas landscape painting of Corrie, this intriguing work explores the formations of the sandstone and boulders on the shore. Arran is often described as "Scotland in miniature" - for the diversty of the landscape alone you should visit if you can!
