The image of cornflowers, Centaurea cyanus, is taken from the artist's garden. We created an area of wildflowers specifically for the purpose of increasing pollinator activity in the garden. A particular favourite in this patch is these cornflowers. I just love the shape and deep colours in these flowers and leaves, with their long lean stems. They bring so much joy to me in the summer months.
Materials used:
Canvas stretched over a wooden strainer, water-based primer, oil paints and a museum-grade varnish.
