Painted in the artist's garden in Minneapolis, MN. Features a couple of hybrid peony flowers of the variety named "Cora Louise". The flower petals display shades of red and magenta, with hot pink highlights, burgundy shadows, and golden yellow centers. The scene also includes leaves with detailed red edges, and a background of drips and daubs of paint that highlights the flowers with light yellow and blue halos. The background was created with splattering of water-based casein paint, with additional glazing and and texture in oil. The flower is painted with both brush and palette knife, and the shapes of the petals are enhanced by the shaping of the oil paint with palette knife.
Framed in a 3" wide wood frame with a mahogany colored finish. May be purchased unframed by request.
