Original artwork description:

Colored pencil, graphite and ink on paper. Framed in white wood frame with spacers on matte white and UV plexiglass.

Mixed Media artist, DYANNA DIMICK, lets material and her eco-friendly lifestyle drive her creative process.

Her work explores color, shape, material and juxtaposition, with a focus on organization, multiples, and the overload of today’s consumerism culture. Our modern obsession with vanity occasionally sneaks into her work.

Dyanna turns used and discarded items, from her environment, back into desired pieces. Our eyes tune out thousands of objects around us because we don't have a current need for them or they don't seem important to us. Dyanna sees something special in these items. Collecting also keeps her attuned to her environment.

Conscious of the consumerism cycle, she'd rather find her material than buy it. We live with pollution. We accept it and it becomes invisible. She uses the material as part of her palette to mimic this.

Materials used:

colored pencil, graphite, ink
