This was when I started to experiment with oil. I wanted to create rooms and objects that blend into one other, and to express the ethereal, soul-like quality in them. I have always adored the intensity and juiciness created by the contrast between red and green. The two chairs here appear to be confronting one another, but you can see the divide between the red half and the green half of the room. The chairs are also slightly angled as to not directly face one another.
