"Commute" is a good example of how I love to move things around in a painting. The man started off as a full figure walking in the park. In the sketch phase, I warped him in photoshop a few different ways. in the painting phase, I cropped him, put him on top of a building, and changed his clothes (color and value) to try to contrast with the backgrounds' diffused color.
Usually, the process is straightforward, taking a day or two. This one (while simultaneously working on two others) took about one week.
