Original artwork description:

The Central Market in Kumasi-Ghana is the 4th largest market in West Africa and serves as a business centermost of the industrious women in the region. The market has been in existence since 1680, long before the foreign invasion by the Dutch, Portuguese, and later the British. In 1922 the market was expanded to be the largest in Ghana and the 4th in West Africa. As a man, I owe what I am today to the fact that my mom also sold in this market to be able to put me through school and also feed our family. I have fond memories of going to the market to help my mom set up her products to start her day's work. The market is underway to receive a facelift to meet modern standards.
