Original artwork description:

I was quite excited about all the bright colours on this canvas. The cockerel looks great in his sparkling domain. I've added patterned paper to this mixed media canvas for part of the feathered effect and blended it with paint.

I start the canvas with a rough pencil sketch and then I add the coloured paper before building up the layers with acrylic paint. The last thing I add are the embellishments of thread, bits of pottery and glitter to pick out or highlight certain areas.
