The Coloured Sands near Rainbow Beach is famous for its vibrant rich coloured sand dunes.

This painting was completed in the studio after a recent 4wd and camping trip to the region. I did a number of studies on location standing on the beach and then used these as the reference material for this painting.

For me this painting signals a development of my approach to painting. It is a move to a more abstract expression of the subject. Rather than trying to capture every detail I have focused more on capturing the atmosphere and feeling of the place.

Note - This painting is unframed but ready to hang with a hanging wire on the back. Please be aware that my painting style is loose and impressionistic ... as such the edges are not neatly finished as that would detract from the style and spontaneity of the painting approach.
