ABOUT THE ARTWORK
"In 'Coffee before gardening' from my 'Madeleine' series, I explore the quiet moments of reflection before embarking on the day’s labors. This painting reflects on the ritualistic nature of morning routines and their role in preparing us mentally and emotionally for the tasks ahead. It is a meditation on how such routines, though seemingly mundane, are integral in framing our approach to life's daily renewals and challenges. Through this artwork, I delve into the theme of nurturing—not just in the literal sense of gardening, but also in nurturing oneself with moments of pause and reflection, allowing for a connection between the past and the present, and between anticipation and action."
MEDELEINE Series
The series of works “Madeleine” are the artist’s reflections on the nature of time and memory, the ability of art to recreate the past and give it meaning.
The series is a deeply autobiographical study, where the artist asks questions about the nature of false memories, the ability of memory to correctly store stories, the ability of things and people to influence the perception of memory.
As in Proust’s novel “In Search of Lost Time,” where the taste of Madeleine becomes the key to the invisible rooms of the past, each painting by the artist is a gateway to personal memories that mix with fictitious images, evoking a feeling of either déjà vu or reality, a subtle but always vivid anticipation .
In the Madeleine series, the artist reveals an abundance of emotions and experiences, and, like Proust, uses art as a means to recreate the past, giving it new meaning and new value. Each work is a dialogue between the present and the past, between the external world and the internal space of memory.
