Original artwork description:

I paddled along the coast of the Big Island. It was sunset and the light reflected off the volcanic rocks and Kiawe trees on top of the bluff. There was a light wind which caused minute matte textured ripples on the ocean’s surface. As I continued to paddle, I came upon smooth mirror-like glassy pockets where the water was undisturbed. I continued on, looking for these pockets and for the colors reflected in them, until I came upon one that captured the colors of the coast…the yellow of the trees, the orange of the bluffs, and the blue of the sky and clouds.

Original Oil painting applied with brushes on archival canvas. Painting is wrapped and painted around the sides, and stretched on heavy-duty stretcher bars. Painting measures 20" x 32" x 1.5". An archival varnish has been applied to accentuate the vibrancy of colors and help protect the original painting.
