A kneeling, turning figure with a fantastic textural surface. The rhythm and movement of the piece remind me of the sea, hence the name. She is built from paperclay, with copper oxide and blue-green slip and a very thin transparent glaze. She has a strong presence and is surprisingly heavy. I love the texture. When fired, the paper fragments in the paperclay burn out and the slips and oxides are sucked into the clay body, which gives the appearance of antiquity, which I find very attractive.
