This large UNFRAMED acrylic painting is dedicated to all the Warriors ... all over the world... that mine coal for a living. We have light at night and heat in the winter because of these Warriors! . No matter what your political and ecological views are, over the past centuries society has sent these men and women into the darkness for the comfort of the poplulace and many times for the prosperity of the nation. These warriors endured unbearable conditions to support their families, many times they gave their lives in the process. I have lost three family members myself to coal mining. I have seen my Father-in-law and brother-in-law come home from the mines in the evening, and all you could see was the white of their eyes or the shine of their smile. Most people would say this painting is dark... and the eye are so bright. If you had ever met a family member coming "Out of the Dark" this is what you would see. This artwork is dedicated to that moment,,, when those brave men and women returned home to their families. And most of all.. to those who didn't!
