Darcy’s interpretation of the CMD arête, Ben Nevis, is a brooding depiction of a classic mountain high fell walk in the Scottish highlands. The composition was inspired by the painter’s own encounter with the high fell some years earlier, which left a lasting impression.
The painting is deeply textured having been built up by numerous thick layers of acrylic paint, whilst some areas have been scraped back before having additional thin layers applied. The result is a highly atmospheric and imposing composition.
The painting was selected to be exhibited by Upfront Gallery, Penrith. Sadly, after just a few weeks of exhibition, Covid lockdown closed the art venue to the public in January 2021.
The painting is professionally framed in black and is ready for hanging.
