The inspiration for this painting comes from a desire to get up close and personal with a particular color - yellow, cheerful yellow in this case. And what better way to capture yellow than with a sunflower.
From this desire also emerges the format - a small three-dimensional thick canvas painting, of a photorealistic sunflower. Painted on all sides, the image flows around the canvas edges lending it the 3-D effect.
