Original artwork description:

The inspiration for this painting comes from a desire to get up close and personal with a particular color - pink, brilliant pink in this case. And what better way to capture yellow than with a flower - a tulip.
From this desire also emerges the format - a small three-dimensional thick canvas painting, of a photorealistic tulip. Painted on all sides, the image flows around the canvas edges lending it the 3-D effect.
Like all my oil paintings, this one has been rendered using the multi-layered technique of the Old Flemish masters, lending it the depth and richness of color.
Ideally, this painting is meant to be displayed as a floral trio with the two other closeup florals in this series. This trio can cheer any space
