Cleopatra The Man Eater - Large Oil Painting
58x82

When I start a painting I have no sketch or plan and the painting appears as the paint hits the canvas. As explained in my bio I have narcolepsy which locks my brain into REM sleep awake or asleep I have very Intense hallucinations cause by hypnagogic REM intrusion. I have learnt to accept these and in a way be led by them. So I was shocked this appeared but as I often find meaning during the painting. I came to think f this as a rumour to keep a queen in power. In the days of no tv, media or even news print there was only heresay and rumours and tales. For a woman to remain in power like cleopatra and also queen Elizabeth the 1st and also any male kings pharaohs etc there would have had to be story’s to spark the fear in any man thinking of revolt. So this ridiculous idea that cleopatra was a man eater is completely made up by me but so are most story’s about kings and queens and known figures of the past.
I also like the idea that this would shock if put in a museum and that’s hard to do when everything’s been done. Putting a black dot with a red line on canvas in a museum nowadays would not shock my grandmother. So I find it interesting that this probably would.
It would take a brave collector to purchase this and display it. But brave collectors are the best ones to know. This is a big rolled canvas that would be best mounted on a board. I am happy to discuss anything about the painting or how to mount if you message me.
