Pleasing blocks of colour suggest the fields of the Dale with varying tones depicting the clouds' shadows. This is a lovely view of part of Nidderdale. It's less well known than some of the other Dales in Yorkshire but it is no less attractive and it's treasured by those who are familiar with it. This scene is looking across to the south and it was the breadth, or the sweep of the scene which appealed to me. The characteristic dry stone wall leads the eye on and the curve of the road guides you to the valley itself with the shadows of the clouds scudding across. The fields are blocks of colour in the summer light.
The painting is on a stretched canvas with the sides painted and is ready to hang.
