I am from Kolkata (formerly known as Calcutta), a metropolitan city in eastern India. It is a very crowded and busy city, always bustling with life. It also has a rich cultural heritage and rich history. I always pictured my hometown as a moody, careless, messy yet a beautiful young woman who is untangling her own riddles. Wherever I go I feel that the ethos of a particular place creates it's own identity and every place has lot of stories hidden in itself, just like us. The city witnesses so many things every moment..love, passion, hate, crime...still it stays quiet. Here in this painting I tried to peek into the soul of the city.
