This painting was awarded "Special Recognition" in the 10th Annual "Cityscapes" competition for 2020. It began--along with its companion piece--as a collage of business cards, newspaper clippings from the New York Times, and Scripture passages, including the Gospel of Matthew which says "A city set on a hill cannot be hidden." The collage was mounted on canvas and then overpainted in acrylic and oil in a palette of blues, with black and white, and the proportions of the composition mirror a skyscraper. The painting has been given a satin varnish for protection, and hanging hardware is already installed.
