In this painting I thoroughly enjoyed the challenge of painting such a complex set of reflective objects and the result is one of my personal favourite works, from the complexities of the lemon flesh to the double reflections in the little black jug on the marble slab. The sharpness of the knife marries with the imagined sharpness of the vibrant fruits to create a painting you can almost taste.
Materials used:
Oil paint, linseed oil, dammar varnish, MDF, cotton, rabbit skin glue, gesso.
