Artwork description:

This is an abstract linocut design inspired by a vintage poster I saw in the Geoffrye museum, East London, which had circular shapes, each with a different image inside (Victorian, I think).
My designs have evolved from collages I made using bits of wallpaper, magazine images and postcards cut up to create new designs. I love 1930's and mid century design and hope these have that vibe too. The bits of collage in this print are from magazine images of fabrics and a rollered print texture of a scrap of wallpaper I have. I have a box load of torn out and collected papers that I rummage in whenever I'm starting collages or prints.
The colours are quite intuitive, probably stemming from a love of Mexican, Cuban, African and Indian art and textiles. I love rich colour combinations such as the rich green and orange-reds here.
I have included a photograph showing what it might look like framed but this listing is for sale unframed. Please contact me for pricing if you wish to purchase it framed.

Materials used:

paper, linocut inks, collage papers
