Original artwork description:

I am facinated by patterns and shapes in nature and love the movement, reflections and shimmer of fish swimming in shoals.

This is my ninth version of "Circle of Koi" and the forth version with koi carp.

This piece was a commission for Squires Fish Restaurant, in Braunton, Devon, UK, and instead of my usual shaped paper they wanted all the fish made in polymer clay.

Because the size was much larger than I have made I had to make silicone moulds for the fish and shape each one out of patterned sheets of polymer clay. they were then fired and coated with resin.

I created the fish in different oranges and pinks with gold leaf, and one blue one with silver leaf.

Each fish is attached to the framed white melamine covered backing board with two dowls and glued into place.

Materials used:

Polymer clay, resin, wooden dowels, melamine covered mdf board, wooden frame
