Original artwork description:

Painted in oil on canvas, this very attractive little bay in Cornwall provides an interesting composition and interest to those who have visited the region. The edge of the canvas is approximately 2 cm wide and is painted in keeping with the colours in the picture and can be hung directly on to a wall. If preferred, it is also suitable for framing.

Both nature’s beauty and beastliness conjoin in perfect matrimony at Church Cove, which is part of Gunwalloe Beach. Sitting on Cornwall’s Lizard peninsula, just below Helston and Porthleven and just above Mullion, Gunwalloe Beach, in the parish of the same name, is exposed to the brunt of Atlantic storms, so romance and tragedy abound across this special landscape that is managed and preserved by the National Trust.

The tiny church of St Wynwallow, with a detached tower set into the solid rock of the headland, is located to the north side of the beach hence the name Church Cove.
