This is a pastel drawing of a cheeky chimpanzee. It has been drawn with a variety of pastels and pastel pencils.

I started with the eyes as they are the most important part of this art piece. They are full of wonderment and expression and bring his cheeky face to life. Once his eyes are complete I then start laying down the foundations on which to draw his fur. I use many different high grade pastels but usually start with a thin layer of pan pastels. I then start to build up the layers with fine thin and wispy strokes to represent the hair.
Many hours went into creating this one off portrait and I feel sure he will delight the owner for many years to come.
