Original artwork description:

Cheung Chau Island is about an hour or an hour and a half from Hong Kong’s central ferry piers, depending upon whether you take the fast or slow ferry. Getting about the harbour to various points of interest by ferry is a relatively cheap and easy, and Cheung Chau is a ‘must see’. Once an old fishing village, (and still is operational) it is now a colourful and interesting fun day out – loads of restaurants, bars, and quaint alleyways and curiosity shops selling just about everything you might need, including beach attire, as the beaches are great. We were visiting Hong Kong again a couple of years ago, and this another of the panels I painted on that trip.

The only way to get around is by foot (it’s not that big) or rent a bike. Either way, it’s a blast from the moment you get off the ferry, until you head back while enjoying a well earned beer.

While I was painting this one, a huge storm swept right across the island, drenching everything, including yours truly. The painting however, survived quite nicely, and I was able to continue undercover and completed it in one session – Alla Prima! The view is from the side of the main thoroughfare looking up towards the south end of the island.
