Painted on-site in the artist's neighborhood in Minneapolis with oil over casein paint on canvas. Features an autumn maple tree with foliage in brilliant cherry red with pale pink highlights and deep burgundy shadows. The texture of the foliage in the tree and the fallen leaves on the ground is enhanced by palette knife work. The tree rests atop a gently sloping hill showered in fallen leaves, and is haloed by the light yellow leaves of background trees. Trees with orange and rust colored foliage can be glimpsed to the left at the edge of the hill.
