This is an original, one-of-a-kind painting on canvas. It was inspired by the many stunning elements within Khao Sok National Park, including towering limestone cliffs, lush rainforest, and of course Cheow Larn Lake. The scenery is as dramatic as it is beautiful.
Due to the mountainous landscape of limestone cliffs, over a hundred peaks remained when the valley was flooded to create Cheow Larn Lake; only their crests visible above the surface. Though the lake itself is only a few decades old, the greater area is ancient. In fact, the Khao Sok National Park outdates even the Amazon rainforest, with scientists estimating its creation at approximately 160 million years ago. The cliffs in this area of the country are thought to have been created at the same time as the Himalayas when 50 million years ago the Eurasian and Indian tectonic plates collided, forcing the rock upwards.
Khao Sok National Park is home to an abundance of breathtaking scenery. A gorgeous emerald lake, thick tropical rainforests and dramatic limestone cliffs - the type often seen in movies - are just some of the features that make Khao Sok such a magical place and I couldn't resist bringing this magical world into my canvas.
I use the highest-grade archival materials in creating this artwork to ensure that this painting is ready to withstand the ages. All of my Originals come with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The painting surface is protected with a coat of Gamvar varnish. The painting is unframed, it is wired in the back on the stretcher bars and ready to hang.
