Original Contemporary plein air painting of typical Oregon skies in winter. This painting has a story behind it that I want to share.
I am dropping my husband at work the other day. I look up and see these perfect puffy clouds in the sky. I feel the fluttering in my heart telling me to paint. So a fake cough and cancelled dentist appointment later(I know I'm terrible), I pack up my supplies and arrive at a location with good eastern vistas. I look up and those perfect clouds are to the south now. 30 mins later I arrive at second location. Those clouds are nowhere to be seen. I start walking on the trails now trying to find them. Another 30 mins gone by. At this point I'm like just setup anywhere and paint anything. 20 mins into painting, sky is completely overcast. I have color notes and pack up. I'm driving home now. It starts pouring.I reach home and quickly finished the sketch from memory.
