My inspiration is simply the freedom to produce, on a surface, that which comes unconsciously. As I start to lay down color and form, an image or idea will be sparked and I run with it. This particular painting I saw a bull leaping of the surface almost immediately.
I starting thinking of Picasso and my time in Costa Rica watching bull fights.
Acrylic paint allows me to remain fluid and kinetic when creating this work. There is no ability to stop and start...it must continue in one fell swoop and be purged. This style achieves a spectrum of motion...starting out fast, frantic, and loose, then morphs into a precise definition phase.
Charging Bull was the first of this series and a gift to me.
