Original artwork description:

Echoes of the breaking waves on gneiss cliff faces combined with piercing gull chants with swirling updrafts ascending hundreds of feet from the turmoil, 'Chaos beneath the cliffs' goes some way to capturing that sense of being so close to the harsh but magical Cornish oceanic clifftops.

Paul has used loose impasto swathes of oilpaint to express the movement and chaos, with the use of semi transparent oil glazes to express the subtle hues in the atlantic skies above. The artwork is rendered on smooth hardboard to achieve the smooth textures of the skies. The artwork is mounted on an edge butted wooden frame for strength and hanging purposes.
