The original painting depicts a realistically painted bee on an abstract flower field background. This artwork is a part of my artistic research about the deep spiritual unity of humans and the world through everyday life.
The artwork celebrates the fundamental importance of bees in the life of our civilization, appeals to the symbol of the Great Mother and the unity and interconnection of all things.
The bee is an extraordinarily versatile symbol. Sacred texts in all major religions of the world dedicated to bees emphasise their importance to human society for thousands of years.
In different traditions it personifies immortality, rebirth, purity of the soul, wisdom, fertility, diligence, frugality, order, chastity. The bee served as a symbol of the sky and stars, and also took part in the creation of the world. It is often an attribute or one of the incarnations of the Great Mother. In recent decades, the global bee population has been declining due to habitat loss, intensive farming practices, changing weather, and overuse of agrochemicals such as pesticides. This, in turn, poses a threat to many plants vital to human well-being and livelihoods.
My author's technique consists of multiple layers of acrylic painting applied with brushes on canvas, oil pastels strikes and washings. I am studying the transformation of material and creating the artwork in the dialogue between my intention and the unpredictable force of material in the art process, that is why you can see the free flow of paint next to more realistic "controlled" images. This practice helps me to learn how to follow the flow of uncontrolled chaos and build a new order inside of it.
The acrylic painting applied with brushes on canvas and oil pastels strikes. The painting will be shipped unframed, stretched on stretcher bars. Full size is 80x80x1,5cm, the sides are covered around by painting.
The artwork will be dispatched within 14 days.
Any international shipment may be liable to Customs and Excise Duty as well as Value Added Tax payments.
